Castine June 26 1862

Dear Sir I have read a letter from my son Charles saying he does not wish for an appointment of service in the company he is now in for it would not the right he thinks But he would like to have a place in the 16th Reg Vols but if that depends on my raising men for this Reg I suppose he has no chance there for the way it looks now it would be impossible for me to get any.
