[in the Company commanded by Captain and Regiment commanded by Colonel of the line of the State of -- all struck through] upon the Continental Establishment, for the period of nearly fifteen months, on board the Dean Frigate commanded by Cap. And I, the said Benjamin Curtis do further solemnly swear, that I was a resident citizen of the United States, on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen; and that I have not, since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner whatever, disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress, entitled, "An Act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States, in the Revolutionary War," passed on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me, any property or securities, contracts or debts, due to me; not have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and by me subscribed. The following is a Schedule of my whole Estate and income, necessary clothing and bedding excepted, viz: Real estate -- none[all underlined] one Cow Half of the value of fifteen dollars 4 sheep & 2 lamb -- seven dollars one swine -- four dollars farming tools -- six dollars old house hold stuff (besides bedding) -- Five dollars

I have no debts due me, and I owe as much as two hundred dollars -- I was formerly a sailor, and followed the seas sixteen years in the early part of my life, but my occupation has been for many years that of a farmer, and having my leg broke about four years since, and being subject to the Rheumatism I am able at the present time to do but little labor -- my family consists of myself and my wife Jemima aged sixty four years (who enjoys a poor state of health, much afflicted with the Rheumatism and nearly helpless) -- both live with our son Leonard, who is a man of small property. Except the above and my bedding and clothing I have no Estate or income whatever-- Benjamin Curtis
