Stoneham. Sept 14 '62

Respected Sir-

Having sought in vain for the name of E.J. Densmore in the papers and not having heard from him since the battle of Bull Run I take the liberty of addressing you to ask you if you will take the pains to inquire for his welfare whether dead or alive.

He enlisted from Bangor in the 2nd Maine Regiment one year ago last [?] and for months I have not heard from him.

Will you take interest enough in a stranger to make necessary inquiries and let me know his fate and by so doing relieve an anxious mind.

With Respect.

               Lucelia Densmore
                  Stoneham
                    Mass.
