Boats and Saddles sounded this morning at 8 oclock. for us to saddle up and go on Picket. ave did not get down to where our Post Co. till 2 oclock in the afternoon. the Regt is divided into 3 reliefs and each relief stands 3 days ave are on the 3rd relief.

The 1st relief is now on Post and have got to stand 3 days. my Co does not go on till the 7th day ave had to keep our Arms on all of the time day and night and ave have to keep our horses saddled and bridled all of the time ready for action at eny moment.

To day ave stayed with the Regt5. at the place of reserve. excepting those companies that is now on first. the weather has been quite cool for a day or two back. it stormed some last night.

we are in the same place that we was yesterday, nothing new has taken place. to dya is the 1st day of April. one year ago from to day we was in Harpers Ferry on our way to Hancock Station Va I received a letter from Center Sidney to day. was glad to hear from the folks.

In Camp at the place of reserve went out to day a little ways from Campt to a farmers house and bought a canteen full of milk. the weather has pleasant all day.

At the same place to day I wish we could go on Post where there is some excitment for this is dull music here where there is nothing going on we have to keep our hourses bridld and saddled all of the time. and keep our arms on.
