August 6 And I am on Patrol guard again to day.

August 7 came off guard at 7 oclock this morning was in camp the rest of the day.

  We got up this morning and baited our horses. took off our bundles and over coats from our saddles and started for the battlefield abought 8 miles from Culpeper. when we got there the fighting was all over the rebels had fell back. we met a great many of the wounded being carryed of from the battlefield.
