Agreeably to assignment the two Houses met in convention, when William King Esq, accompanied by the Treasurer and Secretary of State pro. tem. attended by the sheriff of Cumberland, came in, and look and subscribed the oaths prescribed by the Constitution to quality him for discharging the duties of Governor of the State of Maine. [Governor onward in bold]

Proclamation was then made by the Secretary of State pro. tem. that William King Esq is Governor of the State of Maine, and now duly qualified to exercise all the functions of that office, and that all persons in the exercise of public trust, whether in a civil or military capacity, and all the good people of this State are required to render to his public acts and commands all due obedience and respect accordingly.
