Doct Bradbury of Bangor urged him not to go then but wait and get a Capt commission, as Ive said he was fit for it, One so capable as he is and so popular could recruit very fast and when the company is formed would learn them more in a week than a green man could in a year. His father says if he gets no higher place then orderly he wants him to come Mr. Lovejoy says he has worked and paid money all his life in the Whig and Repub party and never asked anything, but now if it is possible he hopes you will grant this favor as it will be no detriment to the army but a great advantage
