We know that water in no place on earth, though it be a running river, is an absolute security against fire, as in the case of the great Boston fire and the great Chicago fire. Now I want to show the condition that hospital has been in for years past in reference to escapes from fire. I shall have occasion before the Committee to comment upon that, although I understand very well what has been the action of the trustees lately.
