The Convention then proceeded to the choice of Treasurer of the State – and the ballots being collected and counted, the whole number was one hundred and forty two, of which

[Treasurer] Joseph C. Boyd Esquire had one hundred and thirty six and was declared to be duly chosen.

The business of the Convention being thus completed, the two houses separated.

Ordered that the Secretary of the Senate inform Joseph C. Boyd Esquire that he has been elected Treasurer of the State in manner prescribed by the Constitution –

[Notice to Governor of choice of Secretary & Treasurer of State] Mr. Bradbury was charged with a message to the Governor and council – to inform them of the election by the two Houses of Ashur Ware Esquire as Secretary of State, and Joseph C. Boyd esquire Treasurer of State – A message was also sent to the Governor – that Messrs. Isaac Lane, Mark Harris, James McLellan and Ebenezer Williams were duly qualified as Counsellors to advise with him in the executive department of the government, the ensuing political year.
