John L. Hodsdon
Sir
Yours of the 17th is received. After Capt Devereux's Company was full he came to me and requested to have those who did not belong in town, provided for. As an officer of the town, I considered it my duty to do so and the only place I could get them taken care of was at Mr. Lennans tavern.
For those who belonged in this town there has been no charge made with the exception of a breakfast the morning they started for Bangor. I did not draw the order for the bill until after Capt Devereux had examined it and considered it reasonable
Respectfully yours J. T. Hatch
