[52] [1822 Jan. 10] this Commonwealth passed June 21, 1811" – and the several acts in relation thereto passed.
June 22, 1812, June 10, 1813, Feb. 28, 1814 June 13, 1814, Feb. 4, 1815, Feb. 27, 1815 June 17, 1816 – June 13, 1817, Feb. 24, 1818 and Feb. 2, 1819 –
[Report of Committee on Unrevised Laws] All these Acts relate to the subject of the Courts of Common Pleas, and the Circuit Courts of Common Pleas, which has been committed to a select committee of this Legislature from whom a report may be expected.
The laws heretofore enacted in relation to the fisheries in this State (except so far as is provided by an act passed March 19, 1821) have not been revised, and they now remain in force.
On recurring to the many Acts of Massachusetts on this subject they are found to apply to particular Counties, Towns, Rivers and streams and do not come within the description of general laws. As it is presumed the Legislature of this State are not disposed to revise the private Statutes of Massachusetts, in force at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, and as it would probably produce more uncertainty & inconvenience to attempt any general law on the subject of the Fisheries in this State than can be experienced in consequence of referring to the Special Laws of Massachusetts, your committee are of opinion that any legislation at this time in regard to the Fisheries is not expedient. And in reference to all the private Statutes of Massachusetts applicable to this State your Committee are of opinion that it is inexpedient to revise or republish them.
Which report was read and accepted – Sent down for concurrence – came up concurred.
[Remonstrance of N. Yarmouth committed N.Y.] The remonstrance of the town of North Yarmouth against the petition of town of Cumberland committed in the House to the joint standing committee on new Trials, came up for concurrence. Read and committed to the same committee in concurrence.
