to the amount of 14693.22 If this last sum is considered as a debt due them - which the Committee do not presume to take upon themselves to determine, thought they see no good reason why it should not be so considered, it makes the debts due them amount to 208,491.34 which sum it will be at once seen exceeds the limits of their charter - Your Committee ask leave furhter to report that they have been informed - and it also appears by their returns, that a large portion of their business is transacted by Brokers or Agents residing beyond the limits of this State - which your committee humbly conceive is grossly improper and may produce serious evils. - Your Committee further report that they cannot discover by their Act of incorporation that this Bank is limited or restrained as to the amount of Bills that they may have in circulation, excepting that the amount of debts which may be due to or from them at any one time shall not exceed two hundred thousand dollars.
