204 Mr Speaker, I am directed by the Governor to communicate to this House that he has signed One hundred & eight acts and seventy eight Resolves, being all that has been presented to him for signature the present Session. I am further directed b the Governor to inform the House that he has no further communication to make to the House the present session.

Mr Adams of Portland, read in his place and laid upon the Clerks desk, the following Resolution, which been read by the Clerk, was unanimously passed.

viz. Resolved, That the thanks of this House be presented to John Ruggles Esquire for the faithful, impartial and intelligent manner in which he has presided over their deliberations the present session: and that this expression of their approbation be entered on the Journal of the House.

To which the Speaker replyed(replied) as follows, Gentlemen, members of the House of Representatives, The expression of approbation you have been pleased to bestow on the manner in which the services of the Chair have been administered the present session, claims my most respectful acknowledgments; and the source whence that expression emanates adds not a little to its value. Next to the approbation of Heaven and my own conscience, I shall ever prize the favorable opinion of those possessing so much ability, intelligence and virtue. I must suppose it to be chiefly attributable to the generous aid & support I have so constantly experienced at your hands, if I have in any degree fulfilled your just expectations in the difficult and responsible station your partiality assigned me. In bringing our public labors to a close, we ought not if we could forbear a diverting to the prosperity and happiness which so generally abound throughout our State and County. That
