[Reference of part of Governors Message] Ordered that so much of the Governors special messages of the 10th. as relates to a Copy of a report and sundry Resolutions of the State of Illinois on the subject of the claim originated by the State of Maryland to grants of lands from the United States for the purposes of Education, and the accompanying documents, be referred to the Joint Standing Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions. Sent down for concurrence, and came up concurred.
[Message to the Gov. of the election of Secretary of State] Mr. McDonald was charged with a Message to the Governor and Council, informing them that Amos Nichols Esq. had been duly elected Secretary of State for the current political year, had signified his acceptance, and was ready to be qualified.
