+ | On the Eighteenth day of June A.D. 1830 personally appeared in open Court to wit in the Supreme Judicial Court now holden at Bangor within and for the County of Penobscot the same being a Court of Record proceeding according to the course of the common law with a jurisdiction unlimited in part or amount John Blake resident of said of said county aged seventy seven years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the Pension made by the acts of Congress of the 18th of March 1818 and at the 1st of May 1820 that the said Blake Enlisted for the term of Eight Months the 19th day of April 1175 in the line of the State of Massachusetts in the ComPany Commanded by Capt Oliver Pond in the Regiment Commanded by Col. Joseph Reed and that he continued to serve in said Corps until the Expiration of Said Eight Months - and that in January 1776 he enlisted in the same Company Commanded by the Same Captain _ belonging to the Same Regiment Commanded by Said Reed for the term of one year as Sergeant + Continued to serve in said Corps until January 1777 -- and that in Jan'y 1777 - he was appointed + Commissioned as Ensign in the Company Commanded by Capt Nathan Goodgle[?] in Col Rufus Putnams regiment in the Massachusetts line - & that he continued to serve in said Goodes[?] Company [something stricken] until the 24th of October 1780 when he was honorably discharged being at that time a Lieut. in said Putnam's Regiment - at the place where Maj. Andre was Executed as a Spy -- | ||

+ | And in Pursuance of the act of the 1st May 1820 I do solemnly Swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818, and that I have not since that time by gift, sale, or any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring my self within the Provisions of an act of Congress Entitled an Act by Pension for certain Persons Engaged in the land + naval Services of the United States in the Revolutionary War - passed on the 18th day of March 1818 - and that I have not now |
