Dear Sir,

Will you be so kind as to obtain a copy of the Descriptive Rolls of my company (D) of the 2nd Regt. V. M. M. [Volunteer Maine Militia]. I have not had one because the morning before the regiment left Bangor, Gen. Butler obtained it of me with the promise of a copy but failed to give me one.
