some inferior provisions served out to us, (so have all other Rgt's.) but as soon as the matter was properly represented to the Department, the damaged articles have been immediately replaced by those that were good. There has no Regt that has yet arrived in Washington that has had less trouble than ours has, nor one that has caused the authorities here, less trouble. You may be assured of one thing - before we have any serious trouble you will have information in regard to the matter direct from head quarters. My opinion in regard to the knapsacks remains unchanged. I do not think they can ever be made satisfactory to the men.
