+ | The House resumed the consideration of the causes assigned for the removal of James M Rogers &c - And Mr Deblois, Counsel for said Rogers was present. The Managers on the part of the House introduced a copy of the record of the indictment against said Rogers with the proceedings thereon, including the verdict of the Jury and the motion by the Defendant for a New trial. They also introduced a written opinion signed by two of the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court, that the motion for a new trial could not be sustained. The evidence being gone through on the part of the House, Mr Deblois commented upon the inadequacy of the testimony &c &c and Mr Todd made a short reply. The question was then put by the Speaker, "Shall the Address to the Governor for the removal of James M Rogers from all the offices both civil & military which he now holds under the authority of this State", pass, and decided in the affirmative 96 pro. 7 con. | ||
