Hon Lot M Morrill Governor etc
My Dear Sir
As I suppose it will be found necessary to appoint a new Indian Agent for the Oldtown Indians, I would take the liberty of recommending Frederick H. Dillingham Esq of this city, as a suitable person to receive the appointment.
He formerly resided at Old Town & is acquainted with the Indians, He has always maintained an excellent character, & I have no doubt if appointed would discharge the duties of the office acceptably, & to the general satisfaction of the public
Respectfully yours
