Agreeably to assignment the two branches of the Legislature assembled in the Representatives Chamber & proceeded to supply the deficiencies in the Senate by ballot, in those cases where no election had been made by the people. The whole number of votes given, to fill the deficiency in the district of Hancock was One Hundred & fifty three necessary to a choice seventy seven, Joseph Shaw had one hundred and five and he was declared elected.
