revision of the Legislature, it has been deemed improper recently to make any new effort to accomplish the contemplated object, It is believed that no purchase can be made by negotiation under that Resolve, and that purchases from the Indians can only be effected by private individuals under such authority and provisions as the Legislature may choose to prescribe. To the Senate and House of Representatives Gentlemen,
I have the honor to communicate for your information that the Hon. Reuel Washburn has resigned his office of Counseller in this State in consequence of sickness in his family. Regreting very sensibly a circumstance which my respect for this counsellor renders interesting, it is my duty to commend the subject to your early attention.
