Dear Mrs. Eckstorm,

I enclose your two Pingree letters, with thanks. Curious how those names jingle together - Pingree & Pynchon at Springfield, both conspicuous.

The way I got to looking at Kennebunk as a pondy word was by running into Nepanket, or Nepunket, R. "near C. Neddick." May not be the Ken- R. but sets the form, which looks wet to me. Close to our decidedly wet Nippenicket or Neapnuncket, here. I would say that Kennebunk R. (Biddeford abt:) was quite a good fit with the wet meaning. It seems reasonable to take the nip-
