UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

Acadia National Park

August 10, 1942.

The Maine State Library, Augusta, Maine. Attention Mrs Jacob.

Dear Mrs. Jacob:

My book on the Origin of Acadia National Park, a very slender volume, but the result of much condensation and omission of non-essentials, which, if I live to do it, will ultimately be followed by other related publications -- telling of the background -- only in part my own, I most gladly autograph and give copy of, through you, to the Maine Author Collection. But the copy for the Maine Maine State Library, at the same time, for tradition's sake and my own standing as an author, I shall be glad to have the Library purchase for its files. The price, two dollars, represents considerably less than the actual cost of the secretarial work involved and the printing. I am forwarding both copies together, the inscribed one for the Maine Author Collection, the other for the files.

It has been an interesting piece of work about a most interesting subject whose accomplishment will, I trust, endure so long as people care for noble scenery and our National Government gives thought to its protection.

Sincerely yours, [signature] George B. Dorr GBD-0
