A message was received from the Senate by Mr. Hutchinson their Secretary, Proposing a convention of both Houses at eleven o clock today  in the Representatives Chamber for the purpose of coming to the choice of seven Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive department of the Government the current political year - and the House concurred, and the Clerk was requested to acquaint the Senate therewith.

The report of the joint select committee appointed to engage some suitable person to draft Bills & Resolves &c came down amended in the Senate by inserting at A the words "not including Sundays" - the House disagreed to the amendment of the Senate, and accepted the report of the committee in the original form.

Agreeably to assignment the two branches assembled in convention in the Representatives Chamber at eleven o clock and proceeded by ballot to the choice of seven Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive department the current political year - The whole number of ballots given in, was One hundred & sixty  - necessary to constitute a choice eighty one - Caleb Emery had one hundred & eleven votes. Phinehas Varnum had One hundred & thirteen votes. Reuel Washburn One hundred and twelve votes, Ebenezer Farley had One hundred & fifteen votes.Jonathan G. Huntoon hand One hundred & twelve votes.  Simeon Stetson had One hundred & twelve votes, & John S. Kimball had One hundred & fourteen votes, and they were declared duly elected, and the Senate withdrew.
