− | + | on the petition of the town of Albion, that part of China originally taken from Fairfax now Albion may be annexed to Albion, reported that the last Legislature at the request of the petitioners and by the consent and agreement of the Agents of the town of China appointed Reuel Williams and Williams Emmons of Augusta and Rufus Burnham of Unity in the County of Waldo to repair to said towns of Albion and China and under oath hear the parties and take into consideration the propriety and expediency of granting the prayer of said petition as also the justice and equity of said town of China paying to said town of Albion a just remuneration for the loss of property and accumulation of public expenses consequent upon the cession of part of its territory to China: And it appears by the return of said Committee that they have executed the duty assigned them in manner prescribed by the order of the Legislature aforesaid - and have awarded to the said town of Albion to be paid by said China Four hundred and fifty dollars together with eighty five Dollars costs of reference on condition that the limits of said towns should remain as they now are in respect to the territory in question. And it further appearing that said award has been complied with and accepted by the parties your Committee recommend that no further proceedings be had on said petition. Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred. | |
