Gentlemen,

I am informed that one, or more designing individuals have been industriously engaged in creating and circulating suspicions against my integrity of conduct in the office of Warden of the State Prison, which suspicions I am further informed have been insinuated into the minds of some of the members of the Legislature.  Every one must be sensible of the injustice of condemning any man unheard, and without a sufficient knowledge of the facts. I have as required by law settled my accounts with the Inspectors of the State Prison, and furnished to them the proper vouchers for the items of expenditure, and if called upon they would probably have it in their power to furnish correct statements of the particulars.
