A communication was received from the Speaker informing the House that he should not be able to attend in his place on this day on account of indisposition & thereupon the House proceeded by ballot to the choice of Speaker pro tem. The whole number of ballots given in was one hundred twenty four - necessary to constitute an election Sixty three - Benjamin White of Monmouth had one hundred and three & he was elected & being present took the chair & the Governor & Council & also the Senate were by message acquainted therewith.
