[See appendix page 307] Mr White of Monmouth moved to strikeout of the Preamble the words "have a President of the Senate of last year, claiming to act as Governor, when it is evident a Governor has been elected by the people" which motion after some discussion was withdrawn. Mr Smith of Nobleborough then moved to strike out the worlds " claiming to act[underlined]" and insert instead thereof the word "acting[underlined]" and the motion prevailed. The House then passed the preamble & order an amended  - and this question was taken by yeas & nays and decided as follows yeas 74 nays 65. [see appendix page 311]
