Bill - authorizing the appointment of certain persons to publish intentions of Marriage and Solemnize Marriages in the unincorporated places of Aroostick and Madawaska in the Counties of Washington and Penobscot was read a third time and passed to be engrossed as taken into a new draft - sent up for concurrence.

The Committee on Engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed - Bill - establishing a Fire Department in the town of Portland - - to annex part of the land of Ephraim Thompson and Stephen Rounds to Brownfield. - authorizing the Town of Portland to elect Street commissioners - which were severally passed to be enacted sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Bartlett of Garland - Ordered that the Secretary of State be requested to communicate to this House the situation of the funds appropriated by this State, for the education of deaf and dumb children at the Assylum at Hartford and the number of children now at the Institution at the expense of this State.

Report - in part of the Committee on apportionment of Representatives &c. was read and accepted - sent up for concurrence.

Report - of Committee granting leave to bring in a Bill on the Petition of George Lermond and others - was read and indefinitely postponed.
