Mr Thayer was charged with a message to the governor and Council informing them that the Senate was duly organized by the election of Robert P. Dunlap, President, and Nathaniel S. Littlefield, Secretary.

Mr Ingalls was charged with a similar message to the House of Representatives.

Ordered that the Secretary be authorized to appoint an assistant. And William Trafton was accordingly appointed.

On motion of Mr Meqqier Ordered that the Rules and Orders of the Last Senate be adopted for the Government of the present, until others shall have been established.
