Bill providing for the choice of Representatives to Congress; read a second time, and the following amendment was proposed by Mr Hamlin to be inserted at the end of the 4th section, viz; "Provided, that after two unsuccessful trials, to elect a Representative or Representatives in any District; it is hereby enacted, that the person having at the third, or any subsequent trail, a greater number of votes than any other person, shall be deemed and taken to be elected"; and the question on adopting the same, being ordered to be taken by yeas and Nays, was decided in the negative as follows viz.

The County of Lincoln, excepting the towns of Warren, Waldoborough, Cushing Union Washington Patrietown and Thomaston; shall compose one District, and be called the Lincoln District. The County of Waldo, including the towns of Warren Waldoborough Cushing Union, Washington, Patrietown, & Thomaston, in the County of Lincoln; shall compose one District, and be called the Waldo District.
