11 On motion by Mr. Sabine of Eastport, Ordered, That a Committee be appointed to contract with some suitable person to perform the duties of Messenger & Page to the House, and Messrs. Sabine of Eastport, Mills of Belgrade & Webb of Windham were appointed on said committee.

On motion of Mr. Parris of Buckfield, Ordered, That a committee be appointed to employ some suitable person to act as Assistant Clerk, at a compensation not exceeding two dollars per day & Messrs Jarvis of Buckfield, Ludwig of Waldoboro, and Gove of Corinth were appointed said Committee.

Mr. Atkinson of Hallowell, presented the resignation of Peleg Sprague as Senator in the Congress of the United States, which was read by the Speaker as follows; "To the Legislature of Maine, " I resign the office of Senator in Congress of the United States. This resignation is to take effect on the first Wednesday of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty five. I am very respectfully Your Humble Servt, Peleg Sprague" and ordered to be placed on file.
