Afternoon

Mr Williamson from the joint Select Committee on the apportionment of Representatives in the next Congress of the United States, to whom was referred the petition of the Selectmen of the town of Liberty; made a report asking leave to be discharged therefrom, and that the same be referred to the next Legislature.

Mr Drummond from the joint Standing Committee on Incorporation of Towns, to whom was committed a Bill to incorporate the town of Lexington, reported reference to the next Legislature.

Mr Cobb from the Select Committee to whom was referred an order to enquire what sum ought to be allowed to the Messenger of the Senate and his Assistants, reported the following order. Ordered, that the Secretary of the Senate be directed to make up on the Pay Roll of the Senate to Samuel Eaton as Messenger to the Senate, the sum of two dollars per day, and to William Morey and William Morey Jr. Assistant Messengers jointly, the sum of two dollars and seventy five cents per day in full compensation for each and every day they have been or may be employed during the present session of the Legislature. Read and accepted.
