The petition of inhabitants of Trenton for the removal of the Courts from Castine to Ellsworth was read and referred to the joint standing committee on the incorporation of towns, in concurrence.

The petition of John Fuller and others for the incorporation of the Livermore Hemp Manufacturing Company was read and referred to the joint standing committee on Manufactures, in concurrence.

The petition of Abraham C. Dixon and others for an alteration in the school law, came up from the House referred to the committee on the Judiciary. The Senate nonconcur the House in said reference and refer said petition to the joint standing committee on Literary Institutions. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

The remonstrance of Jeremiah Jameson and others; " of James B. Fish and others against an alteration of the Penobscot Boom, were read and referred to the joint select committee who have that subject under consideration, in concurrence.

Mr Ingalls, from the joint standing committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals, made a report on the petitions of Benjamin Fisk and others for a Boom on Penobscot river, asking leave to be discharged from the further consideration of said petitions, and that the same be referred to the joint select committee, who have said subject under consideration, read and accepted.
