The seven Gentlemen last named were declared duly elected Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive part of Government for the current political year. Messrs Talbot and Severance of the Senate and Messrs Bodwell, Goodwin and Sewall of the House were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes for Secretary of State, which Committee having attended to the duties assigned them, reported that the whole of votes is ----- 193. Necessary to a choice 97. Asaph R. Nichols has 148. Nathan D. Appleton " 41. Asa Redington Jr. " 1. and there were three Blanks. Whereupon, Asaph R. Nichols was declared duly elected Secretary of State, for the current political year, and the Convention separated.
In Senate On motion of Mr Talbot. Ordered, that when the Senate next adjourn, it shall be to meet again on Monday morning at eleven o'clock.
On motion of Mr Clark. Ordered, that the Secretary of State, be directed to notify Jabez Bradbury, William Dunn, Seth Labarce, John Burnham, Joseph Johnson, Charles Greene, and Timothy Pilsbury that they have been duly elected Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive Department for the current political year and request their immediate attendance. Read and passed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
