Be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act shall not take effect, unless a majority of the voters of the several Cities, towns and plantations in this State shall so determine at their annual meetings in September next;" and the question of adopting said amendment was decided in the negative by yeas and nays as follows, to wit;

Yeas. Messrs, Greene, Latham, Mantor, Merrow, Miller, Spear, Strickland and Swift --- 8.

Nays. Messrs. Allen, Benson, Clark, Fish, Frye, Jarvis, Jewett, Kelsey, McIntire, Pierce, Purrington, Robinson, Severance, Talbot and Weeks, 15

And said Bill passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence.

Bill additional to an Act directing the method of laying out and making provision for the repair and amendment of highways was read the second time, and the same, on motion of Mr. Clark was laid upon the table.
