� Sept 9- The "Good Night," [underlined] at the close of my last sheet, carries me back in pleasant retrospection, over all the time of your life, from your infancy. How many nights, at your [underlined] bed side, + at mine [underlined], we have inter-changed this friendly term! At no hour in the 24, do I miss you more, perhaps, than at the time of retiring to rest, [two words crossed out], at which we have been accustomed to bid each other, Good night [underlined]. We will not abandon the habit, but still think of each other as often as we lay our heads upon the pillow; and though we cannot hear it with our ears [underlined], we can wish each other as cordially as ever in our hears [underlined], -- Good night [underlined]. . the same Good night [underlined]. I harnessed pony this morning, + gave Mrs. Arrowsmith + her babies a ride, in the rough way toward Streaked Mountain, + thought of our Blue Berry Trip [underlined], + the happy company, + the singing. It is very warm here; + we suffer as much by exposure to the sun as we did at almost any time during the past summer. I rec'd a letter yesterday from Nelson. He [?] writes, all well [underlined]. He is considerably engaged in politicks, + wishes me to write for the new paper in Winchendon [?], "The North Star," [underlined] the 1st No. of which was issued on the 2'd inst., + which is now upon my table.
