General, I have the honor to enclose to you, by permission from Corps Hd. Qrs, a copy of my official report of the battle of Gettysburg.
Had it been written for you I would gladly have given you some particulars which would have made you proud of our noble fellows from the state of Maine. But ever since that report was written I have had so much to do in all ways, that I could
