Hon. Israel Washburn Jr Dr. [Dear] Sir

Mr. Chas Bridges, (Son of Hon. John Bridges) informs me that efforts are being made in case of any change in the Officers of company B to have him commissioned as a Lieut. At his request I take the liberty to write you on the Subject, tendering yourself & others, his sincere thanks & high appreciation for the interest manifested in his behalf A position of this kind would be very acceptable if it could be had in the regiment now being raised, but begs leave to have his name withdrawn as a candidate in case of any vacancy in this company- His views are that the Lieutenancy in justice should be confer'd upon Sergeant Collins, who has acted as orderly of the company since we left Castine & would not feel right to be appointed over him - He has written his Father in regards to the matter & trusts that no action will be taken to cause any unpleasant feelings on the part of Sergeant Collins-
