9th Marched to near Boonsbarrow. Colonel Vinsant promoted to brigadeer general. Our Co with to others guarded the ordinence trains over the Antietam mountain.

10th We marched across the Antietem creak, and threw out skirmishes and advanced in line of battle. Quite sharp picket firing. Took some prisoners and got some men wounded. Our Co. went on picket at night.

11th We skirmished until three o'clock then joined the brigade and advanced in line of battle two miles and compassed skirmishing. A shower came up and we was relieved by the third corps. We moved back a short distance and camped in line of battle. I got a letter from Levant and Larisa informed me of Lucinda Fellows death.

13th We lay in line of battle and it is a rainy day. We struck tents and went in front of  breast works, and a detale from our Brigade and went on picket
