Dr. Butler- The case before us is just like any other case in court or any where else; and we love to believe and do believe that every witness will tell the truth. We believe that. But this is a very serious matter and it has awakened a great deal of attention. We desire that when this investigation is done it may not be said: but these were not under oath. Perhaps it was so, and perhaps it was not so." I think before we get through with this investigation. Mr. Chairman, all the members of the Committee will see the fitness of this thing. There may be witnesses called here who may not be very willing to come, and who will have to be examined here. And with all due respect for the opinion of the Committee I do hope they will allow the oath to be administered to every witness.
