Now my taste perhaps about bread may differ from that of most peoples. But I am inclined to the belief that good bread is about as necessary to a family or patient as any thing else. If you have you got poor bread you have got bad living. I told the Dr. one Day, "that bread is not good; it is sour." He took it up and says, "it is good". He said it in such a gruff tone I knew it was no use to talk. We haven't had what I call good bread more than a quarter of the time since I have been there in that institution. Mrs. Sanborn has talked about the bread frequently- and her bread was as good as the bread in the house- that we didn't have good bread. I dont know what she would testify here about it. I dont intend to mistate any thing or to conceal anything. I want to tell about the matter just as it is. I have lived there five years. The trustees visited there once in a while.
