[page 209] might have said, "A member of the committee" Mr. Baker: Are you enticing whether it was one or more? Dr. Butler: My criticism was whether there was any more than herself. It is a question between one and three. I question whether a single member of that board of the Council pf the visiting committee has been through there during the night; and I am prepared to prove they have not. Witness: Well, I have. I am one of the board. Dr. Butler: I said from the Council. Witness: I have gone round there until daylight. I might have said "a member of your committee", although I think once Col. Robie went with me through the halls. Q. What do you call the night time? A. The night watch goes on at 9 oclock and off at 5. Q. You consider the night beginning at 9 oclock? A. Yes, sir. But there is not an evening before that, during the week I am there, but that I go into one hall or the other; I go into the halls and to ^the lodges. Q. I have no doubt of your faithfulness or care. I desire to ask this question: how much of your time have you spent there?
