Certificate of Discharge.

I hereby Certify [bold], That Eli Cook [handwritten] of Dixmont [handwritten] Maine, a Private [handwritten] of Captain[stricken] Ensign James Dunning's [handwritten] Company [stricken] Troop [handwritten] of [blank] , in the [stricken] Detachment commanded by [stricken] [blank] of the drafted Militia of Maine, was born in Troy [handwritten] in the State of Maine [handwritten] is aged 28 [handwritten] years, 5 [handwritten] feet and 6 [handwritten] inches high, light [handwritten] complexion, gray [handwritten] eyes, light [handwritten] hair, and by profession, when called into actual service by the State of Maine for the protection of the Northeastern Frontier, a Blacksmith [handwritten]

He was called into actual service by order of the Governor of Maine, and rendezvoused at Bangor [handwritten] Maine, on the eleventh [handwritten] day of March [handwritten] A.D. 1839, being drafted from N. G. O. Crocker's [handwritten] Company of Infantry [handwritten] in the third [handwritten] Regiment, second [handwritten] Brigade, and third [handwritten] Division of the Militia of Maine, and then residing at Dixmont [handwritten] in said State; and having faithfully and honestly served the period required, is now entitled to honorable discharge.

The above named Eli Cook [handwritten] has monthly pay due him from the eleventh [handwritten] day of March [handwritten] 1839, when last paid by
