[--committee to examine state of banks] On motion of Mr. Scammon of Saco, Ordered, That Messrs Scammon of Saco, Clap of Portland and Moody of Kennebunk be a committee with such as the senate may join to enquire into the expediency of raising a committee to examine the pecuniary standing of the several Banks & make a complete and full development of their claims respectively upon the public credit —; to report if practicable at the present Session, if not to the Governor in the recess who shall by proclamation make known the same forthwith to the public. [Report — Harlem and China —] [Harlem to be annexed to China] The committee appointed by the joint order of the two Houses of 9th Febry 1821 to receive the petition of the town of Harlem to be annexed to the Town of China — and also the Remonstrance of the Town of China against the same — reported that in their opinion the prayer of the Town of Harlem ought to be granted and that the expense of the committee paid equally by the two towns — Report read & accepted — and thereupon
