On motion of Mr Mace of Lisbon,

[certain officers of U.S. not to hold offices under this State] Ordered, that Messrs Mace of Lisbon, Hilton of Gerry and Myrick of Hebron be a committee with such as the Senate may join to take into consideration the expediency of passing a Law prohibiting every person who may hold an office under the Government of the United States from holding any office under this State (Post Officers excepted) with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Read and passed Sent up for concurrence.

[subject of CCCPleas] On motion of Mr Todd of Portland, Ordered, that Messrs Todd of Portland, Dunn of Poland, Hobbs of Berwick, Morill of Wells, Thatcher of Warren, Crowell of Whitefield, Belcher of Farmington, Morse of Mt. Vernon, Millikin of Frankfort, Merrill of Prospect, Spring of Hiram, Elder of Corinna, Wilkins of New Charleston & Welder of Dennysville be a committee with such as the Senate may join, to take into consideration the subject of the Circuit Court of Common Pleas; with leave to report by bill or otherwise - and that the several papers and petitions referred at the last legislature on this subject be committed to said committee. Read & passed. Sent up for concurrence
