Dear Sir
I take great pleasure in recommending to you Samuel W. Hoskins Esq. as a suitable person for agent for the Penobscot tribe of Indians having known him for a long time and know him to be a man of strict moral habits and of an unblemished character and the appointment of him to that office would give universal satisfaction to all concerned in the welfare of that once numerous but now scatered race.
