[1824] Senate January 10, 1824

[Message] On motion of Mr. McDonald ordered that a message be sent to the House proposing a Convention of the two Houses this day at ten O'clock, for the purposes of filling the vacancies in the Senate.

[Pet. of town of Cornish] An order came up from the House requesting the Senate to take from their files and send down, the petition of the town of Cornish; and the petition and accompanying papers were accordingly sent down.

[Messages] A message was received from the House, concurring in the proposition for a Convention to fill the vacancies of the Senate.

[Committee on Min. & School lands] Order of the House that Messrs. Cobb, Smith and Burgin be a Committee, with such as the Senate may join, to enquire into the expediency of authorizing the several towns in this State, in their corporate capacities to dispose of their Ministerial and School lands in such a manner as to benefit the Inhabitants of those towns, keeping in view the object for which they were granted; with leave to report by bill or otherwise; came up for concurrence, was read and concurred, and Messrs. Anderson and Chandler were joined.

[Message to the Governor] On motion of Mr. Dennett, ordered that Messrs. Dennett and Fairbanks, be a Committee with such as the House may join, to wait upon the Governor and inform him that the Legislature are proceeding on public business, and ready to receive any communication he may pleased to make them.
