The fulness [fullness] of the former and latter harvest; in diffusing so universally among us the blessings of health, the satisfactions of contentment, and the joys of social happiness; in continuing unto us the free exercise of our rights, an able and faithful administration of our national affairs, and the benefits of moral and intellectual improvement; and in shedding upon us the influence of his great goodness in all the walks and concerns of life. And above all, it is our duty to offer unto our Divine Benefactor the homage of our affections and the incense of intermingled thanksgiving and praise, that in infinite compassion to us as sinners, He has mercifully continued to comfort us with the light, and precious promises of the Gospel, and to cheer us with the hopes of eternal salvation through the power and satisfaction of His Holy Spirit.

And while we with united voice and songs of praise make mention of the loving kindness of our god, let us with heartfelt penitence and deep humility confess our transgressions before Him, and fervently beseech Him to pardon us through the mediation of His Son Jesus Christ, who having tasted death for every man, has become the Author of everlasting redemption to all them who obey him: And may fervent and effectual intercession be made for all orders of the people, that their temporal and spiritual interests may continue to have the animating smiles of His favor; that the individuals of the several religious denominations may cherish feelings of forbearance and cultivate the sentiments of good fellowship towards others, and give practical evidence of their faith, by exhibiting the excellence of their holy religion in well ordered lives and pure conversation; that those on whom the bounties of Providence have been more plentifully bestowed, may as cheerful givers, be ready to do good and to communicate, especially to the poor and friendless and the privations of the approaching winter; that He would particularly vouch- safe His diffusive beneficence to the ministers of His word, to charitable and benevolent institutions, and to our schools and public seminaries of learning, and to make them all cooperate helps to integrate the sense of moral principle and to promote the ends of human felicity, that He would have the President and Congress of the United States, and the constituted Authorities of this State in His holy keeping, and grant them respectively the guidance of His unerring wisdom in the discharge of their public important duties; and cause that the benefits of free and righteous governments and equal laws, the security of individual rights, the invaluable blessings of peace, and the benign influences of the Christian Religion may become universal in extent and unlimited in duration.

And the people of this State are requested to abstain from all employments and recreations inconsistent with the sacred services of said day. Given
