State of Maine.

To Allen Rogers, of Hampden, in our County of Penobscot, Gentleman,

Greeting:

Whereas our Governor, by his commission under our seal, on the twenty ninth day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty two, with the advice and consent of our Council, constituted, appointed and Commissioned you to be a Coroner, in our said County of Penobscot, during the pleasure of our Governor and Council for the time being: And whereas it has been made to appear, that before our Court of Common Pleas, holden at Bangor, within and for our County aforesaid, on the first Tuesday of January instant, you were convicted of having made an assault, in and upon one Levi Bradley; the said Bradley being one of the Deputies of the Sheriff of our said County and in the due execution of his office; And sentenced by our said Court to pay a fine of ten dollars to the use of the State, and costs of prosecution taxed at thirty dollars and seven cents.

Whereupon our Council have advised that you be removed from the said office:

We, therefore, command you, that you henceforth surcease the execution of the duties of said office, and of every legal precept, under our authority, except such as may be in your hands at the time of the receipt hereof.

Witness Albion K. Parris, our Governor, and our seal hereunto affixed, at Portland, this thirtieth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three; and of the Independence of the United States of America the forty seventh.
